You will spend the first four nights at the beautiful, located just under 2 hours west of Panama City, and surrounded by lush tropical forest near a deserted beach. This time will be dedicated to disconnect with the outside, and reconnect with your inner self via hatha yoga practice, workshops and themed activities in close contact with Mother Nature and its beautiful gifts.ant it all”: yoga, nature, beach, city life and one of the most famous landmarks in this part of the world!
You will have an opportunity to understand more about yoga philosophy and how it can help you not only as a physical practice on the mat, but more so as a way of life, off the mat. This retreat is designed specifically for those of you who might be new to yoga practice, don’t practice regularly (like me the majority of my past life!), or you have known yoga only as a “relaxing physical exercise” and are still unsure what OM means.
You will deepen your knowledge of asanas (physical postures) and their specific benefits, pranayama (conscious breathing) and meditation, in a relaxed-fun-informative way. There will be plenty of time to chill in a h
ammock, swim in the ocean or paddle around on SUP boards at the nearby beach. you will share delicious vegan meals around the communal table while you enjoy the sounds of nature. I focus on teaching yoga for busy minds and those “addicted to stress” that find it hard to disconnect. As a former workaholic who divorced the corporate world, I know well what that is like! I will be sharing different techniques and practices that will for sure help you get centered, even if you find it hard to do.
For the last couple of days, you will travel to Panama City, which is one of her favorite cities in Latin America. you will visit the incredible Panama Canal, one of the man-made wonders of the world, tour around the old city of Panama and spend the night in the modern part of the city at the Panama Zen Hotel, so you can slowly but surely connect back with urban life before heading back home. you will have a chance to explore the sights and the vegan food spots available in this city, that has so much to offer.
As a Spanish globetrotter, Miriam stumbled upon veganism (by chance) almost 6 years ago while she was living in the US, and once I started questioning my food choices, she wasn’t able to stop questioning my whole life choices (has that ever happened to you?). She left a very successful and stressful career in aviation behind (together with some very poor life habits and some disastrous relationships) and embarked on a personal journey to discover some life purpose and reconnect with Mother Nature and ultimately, herself.
In 2016, she became a certified Health Coach by the Institute of Integrated Nutrition, by then she was already 37lbs lighter than when she started her transformational journey and I had won the battle to many chronic health issues thanks to a change in diet and overall lifestyle.
Later that year, together with her good friend and business partner Maribel, they opened Apoyo Lodge, a health and wellness boutique eco-hotel, and Nicaragua’s first 100% vegan resort. Apoyo Lodge was created as a sacred space where humans, animals and Mother Earth can thrive in harmony, and to bring healthier plant based options to the Central American scene.
In 2018 she completed her yoga teacher training in the sacred city of Rishikesh, India, focused in traditional Hatha Yoga. Her aim is to share the philosophy of yoga with as many people as possible, and to help those who need to get aligned and centered do so. Funny enough, it took her years to realise that the benefits of yoga are better felt off the mat, and if you don’t know that yet, she is happy to help you get there.
